Okaw Valley volleyball (21-9) continues to roll through their regular season contests. On Monday, they mauled Meridian, 25-17, 25-13.
It was a quick bit of work for the Timberwolves. They out-scored the Hawks by 20, 50 to 30 in a too-quick, 2-set match, winning in straight sets, by 8 points, then going away, winning by a dozen.
They swung for 21 kill, served up 7 aces and stuffed 4 blocks for 32 attack points out of 50 (64%).
Kate Jeffers led the net attack with 7 kills and was a wall at the net with 3 blocks, also serving an ace for 11 attack points. Macie Fleshner stepped up to swing for 6 kills, a block and 2 aces for 9 attack points.
Grace Bunfill dished all 17 assists towards the 21 kills (89%). They scored four kills off free balls and 1-timers. Bunfill led the service attack with 3 aces and added a kill.
The defense put up just 29 digs in an easy night defending against the Hawks. Fleshner stepped up in that phase of the game with 8 digs, followed by Paige Coleman with 7 (4 kills). Libero April Decesaro scooped 5 digs.
Okaw Valley (21-9) was to get right back at it on Tuesday traveling to Blue Ridge. Teir final regular season home match is Thursday hosting Argenta.
Okaw Valley (#2 sub-sectional) plays as the top seed in the Kansas Regional on Tuesday, against the winner of Villa Grove and Arcola. The championship match is Thursday, probably against Kansas (#3 sub-sectional). Heritage is the #1 sub-sectional seed playing in the Cerro Gordo Regional.
