The #11 seed Windsor/Stew-Stras Hatchets were riding high on Monday after upsetting #7 seed Arthur in the first round of the regional. Reality came in the form of the Raiders of central A&M in Wednesday’s semifinal of the Meridian 1A Regional. Central A&M (#1 seed) rolled over WSS, 61-33.

A&M just had sharper tools in the shed. Their big three, Griffin Andricks, Connor Heaton, and Jacob Paradee combined for 49 points, 16 more then the whole hardware store of Hatchets.

The grim face of reality began to show among the WSS fans in the 1st period, when A&M went on a 25-10 run. Andricks had a deuce, a trey, and a deuce for 7 points.

Heaton had a 3-point play and two more twos for 7 points. Paradee splashed a 3-pointer and Connor Hutchins joined the party with a deuce and a trey.

Austin Wittenberg started where he left on on Monday (16 pts) with a 3. Jordan Wittenberg made a two and then 1-of-2 free throws. Parker Domzalski made two free throws and Gavan Wernsing scored. However, they were still down by 15 to start the 2nd.

A&M reloaded and only had a 15-8 run in the 2nd. Paradee went to town and came back with the groceries. He made a two, nailed another 3, then was fouled as he scored. He completed the 3-point play for 8 points in 8:00. Andricks settled for a single 3-pointer and Heaton scored twice.

Harley Miller got on the board for WSS in the 2nd with a pair of scores. Sam Vonderheide had a deuce. Domzalski was fouled on a 3 and made 2-of-3 foul shots, leaving the Hatchet in a 22-point hole at the half, 40-18.

The 3rd period was a repeated o the 1st, a 21-9 run. Heaton made 1-of-2 foul shots, then a triple. He had two more twos, then took a bow. Andricks made a deuce and a trey in the 3rd and Paradee scored twice. Hutchins dialed in another 3 and Brycen Burgener made 1-of-2 free throws.

Jordan Wittenberg caught fir and made a pair of treys and then a deuce for 8 WSS points in the 3rd. Miller scored again and Wernsing made 1-of-2 foul shots. WSS was down by 32 points, 61-29.

The 4th period was a eulogy. WSS scored four points all from Austin Wittenberg. he made 1-of-2 free throws and a final 3. A&M didn’t even score the last 8:00 and won by 28 points.

Heaton led all scorers with 19 points. he scored 8 ties from the floor (1-3) and was miserable at the line, 2-of-7. Paradee and Andricks both had 15 ponits. Paradee scored 6 times with a pair of triples. Andricks scored 6 times with a triply of twos and a trey hat trick.

Jordan Wittenberg led WSS with 11 points on two 2s, two 3s, and 1-of-2 free throws. Austin Wittenberg followed with 7 points on bookend treys and a free throw in between.

WSs finished with a record of 14-19. A&M (#1 seed) will play Nokomis (#4) in the regional final on Friday.
