Shelbyville golf advanced out of regional as the 3rd place team last week, but they bowed out at the El Paso Sectional on Tuesday. The Rams finished 10th out of 12 teams with a score of 380.

The teams advancing to state were Central Catholic (307), El Paso (329) and Sullivan (337). Team scores ranged from 307 to 399.

Shelbyville’s leader Will Leach, who advanced to State last year, missed the cut this time by just 2 strokes. leach shot an 84 and the last man in from the El Paso Sectional shot 82.

The top 4 Rams shot 84, 93, 98, and 105 for 380 strokes, and average of score of 95. For 9 holes that’s under 50 per man (47.5). Sullivan averaged a score of 84 to make the cut (42 for 9 holes).

Leach shot a 42 on the front nine and a 42 on the back nine for his 84. Cole Evans shot a 48 on the front and a 45 on the back for his 93. Gabe Dove shot a 50 on the front and a 48 on the back for his 98. Luke Jesgarz shot a 53 and a 52 for 105.

Matthew Grabb played 5th man and shot a 117 (61 front/56 back). Chance Billingsley rounded out the Rams at sectional with a 129 (56 front/73 back).

The medalist at sectional was John Keefer of Central Catholic, shooting a 74.
