After taking second place in the Nokomis 8th grade tourney to start the season, the Shelbyville Ram 8th grade go a leg up on Arcola on Thursday and bucked the Riders, 38-21.

Shelbyville launched out to a big, 16-3, run to start the game. From that point on, Shelby was just a few points ahead in each quarter and rode the early cushion to victory.

Brody Bpoehm scored four times andhis brother Brady Boehm scored twice. Brody added two free throws and Drew Nohren made a two. Arcola's almost-solo scorer Jackson Miller had a lone 2 and Oden Barron split two free throws to trail by 13 points after just 6:00. 

In the 2nd, Miller nailed his first three and Barron scored. Mason Jones scored twice for Shelby and Brady Boehm once to increase their lead to 14 points at the half, 22-8.

After the break, Shelby got put on the line. Zed Phelps was scored and split a pair. Each Boehm scored once. Brady got to the line twice and made 2-of-4. Phelps scored from the floor. Logan Stiner shot free throws, but missed.

Arcola got all seven of their 3rd quarter points from Miller. A deuce, a trey, and a deuce. The trailed by 16 points going into the 4th, 31-15. 

Down the stretch, fate was set. Shelby Shelby got a deuce from Brody Boehm a deuce from Stiner and a 3-point play from Nohren to seal the deal. Arcola finished with a pair of 3-pointers from Miller, losing by 17.

Arcola's Miller led the game in scoring with 18 of Arcola's 21 points. He had 4 treys and 3 deuces. Boehm's led Shelby. Brody had 14 points on 6 buckets and 2-of-3 from the line. Brady had 10 points on 4 buckets and 2-of-6 at the stripe.
