Friday and Saturday saw two Ram 8th grade wins. Shelbyville 8th grade basketball held off a late charge from Central A&M on Friday, winning 36-32. They hit Monticello early and often on Saturday, 40-18. Ram 7th also won Saturday, beating Monty, 28-20.
A&M took a slight lead early on the strength of a 3-pointer, 7-6. Houchins hit his first trey and Rowcliffe and Damery made solo twos. Shelby got two buckets from Brady Boehm and one from Brody Boehm.
The Rams roared in the 2nd with a 14-6 run. Brody Boehm made 3 buckets and Drew Nohren sank a pair of treys. Brady Boehm made a two. A&M struck from the arc again, but only twice, once from Damery and once from Houchins. Shelby went up by 7 t the break, 20-13.
The 3rd period was a draw. Mason Jones canned a 3 and Brody Boehm made a deuce and two free throws. A&M mgot a triple from Delmendo and solo twos from Trueblood and Damery, to stay down by 7, 27-20.
Down the stretch, A&M made a push. Houchins hit a deuce and a trey, Damery hit a 3, Rowcliff made a two and White a two for a 12-9 run. Shelby got enough. Brody Boehm scored twice and made 1-of-3 foul shots Tucker Foil got on the board with a basket and 2-of-2 foul shooting.
A&M beat Shelbyville from the floor. They had 13 buckets, but six were 3s for a total of all 32 of their points. They only shot two free throws and missed. them. Shelbyville made 14 field goals, three which were 3s for a total 31 points. Shelby got to the line for 14 free throws and made 5.

On Saturday, the Rams opened with an 11-3 runs and never looked back. Mason Jones scored twice early and Tucker Foil hit a triple. Brady and Brody Bohem each scored once. Weidner made a 3-pointer for Monty to trail by 8.
The 2nd was almost a draw, but Shelby nipped Monty, 8-7. Foil nailed another 3 and got to the line twice, making 3-of-4 foul shots. Brady Boehm made a two. Long scored a trey and a deuce for Monty and Maupin a two. They were down 9 at the half, 19-10.
The 3rd period, Shelby left Monty in the dust with a 15-5 run. Brody Boehm scored three times from the floor and the last one was a 3-point play. Brady Boehm scored twice and was 2-of-3 at the stripe. Jones made two free throws. Teschke had a solo 3 and Weidner and Snyder were both 1-of-2 at the line.
Shelby had doubled up the Sages heading into the 4th, 34-15. They doubled them up in the 4th, 6-3. Monty had a 2 from Brown and a free throws from Fox. Broady Boehm went to the line three times and made 3-of-6. Zed Phelps scored and Logan Stiner made 1-of-2 foul shots.
Shelby made 13 field goals (2-3s) and shot 21 free throws, making 12. Monty made 6 foul shots (3-3s) and were 3-of-9 at the line.

Shelby got off the dime quickly in the 1st. Myles Hammond scored twice. Jack Jokisch nailed a 3 and 1-of-2 foul shots. Chase wells made a two. Foran splashed a Monty 3 and Wassom and Craft had solo twos to trail 10-7.
Monty struck back in the 2nd, 8-4. Seth Tope had all four Ram points on 1-of-3 foul shots and a trey. Wassom scored three times for Monty an Foran once, to take a 1-point lead at the half, 15-14.
Shelby turned about in the 3rd, 6-3. Hammond nailed a 3 and Wells got to the line twice, making 3-of-4 foul shots. Wassom scored just once and Vance split two free throws. Shelby was now up by 2, 20-18.
Shelby held momentum in the 4th with an 8-2 finish. Wells scored twice from long range and made 2-of-4 free throws for all 8 Ram points. Wassom had the only Monty bucket.
Wells and Wassom led their respective teams with 13 and 12 points. Wells had 3 buckets and two were 3s. He was 5-of-8 at the line. Wassom had all 2-pointers. Hammond followed Wells with 7 oints on 3 baskets (1-3).
