IUPUI junior setter Rebecca Schlechte and Senior Haley Hoffman were named to the Horizon League Volleyball All-Academic Team, the league announced on November 19. The two Jaguars were voted on to the team by the league’s Faculty Athletics Representatives.

“I am really proud of these two ladies,” said head coach Lindsey Froehlich. “They hold themselves to a very high academic standard and have achieved a lot both on and off the court. This is a well deserved honor for two great student-athletes.”

Schlechte holds a 3.974 GPA in Accounting and Finance and also made the Horizon League All-Academic Team for the second-straight year.

Schlechte helped guide the Jaguar offense this season with 7.22 assists per set and 809 assists overall. She finished fifth overall in the assists per set in the Horizon League and was fourth in the league play with 7.17 per set.

On the defensive end, Schlechte finished the season with 201 digs and 26 blocks.

In 2019-2020 (Junior), Schlechte appeared in 29 matches and led UIPUI with 809 assists and added 201 digs.

In 2018-19 (Sophomore), Schlechte appeared in 29 matches, making 25 starts. She led the team with 599 assists and a 5.93 assist per set average.

Schlechte was fourth on the team with 303 digs and averaged 3.00 digs per set. She finished the year with 30 kills, 14 service aces and 23 blocks.

Schlechte dished out 21 assists and 14 digs in her first collegiate game against Southern Illinois (Aug. 24). She began the season with 22-straight games with double-digit assists. She posted 11 double-doubles and notched her first career double-double with 29 assists and 11 digs.

Schlechte tallied 27 assists and 12 digs against SIU Edwardsville (Sept. 1). She had 34 assists and 13 digs for her third-straight double-double against Northern Arizona (Sept. 1). She posted 23 assists and 12 digs against Samford (Sept. 7) and had another three-game stretch with double-doubles from Sept. 14 to Sept. 21.

Schlechte dished out a career-high 48 assists and added 15 digs, three kills and three blocks against UIC (Sept. 21). She posted a career-high five kills with 26 assists and seven digs against Green Bay (Sept. 22) and had 39 assists and a career-high 19 digs, as well as three blocks at Oakland (Sept. 28).

Schlechte matched her career-high with five kills to go along with 32 assists and 14 digs at Youngstown State (Sept. 29). She set a career-high with five blocks to go along with 30 assists and 18 digs at Cleveland State (Oct. 5) and had four-straight matches with at least 30 assists from Sept. 28 to Oct. 5.

Schlechte finished the season with four-straight games with at least 12 digs and was named to the Fall/Spring Academic Advisor’s List.

2017:18 (Freshman): Did not play as a freshman ... named to the Fall/Spring Academic Advisor’s Lists.

In high school, Schlechte was a 2013 Prep Volleyball Frosh 59-Highest Honorable Mention selection. Stew-Stras was 1A State runner-up the same year. In 2013, she was Champaign All-State 100 Honorable Mention. In 2014, she was Special 50 selection.

Schlechte was Shelbyville Daily Union Fall Athlete of the Year in 2014 and Decatur Herald and Review All-Area First Team. She was National Trail Conference team all four years of high school and was named the MVP following her senior season.
