Shelby Area AA junior high schools competed in the IESA AA track meets last weekend.
The area had at least participant in each of the 4 meets. Five 7th grade boys qualified in the 7AA boys meet. Four entries qualified for the 8AA boys meet. Two girls qualified in the 7AA girls meet. On girl competed in the 8AA girls meet.
Shelbyville Moulton had two Top 10 performances at State. Brady Boehm placed 8th in the 7AA discus, throwing 115 feet, 8 inches, earning a medal and scoring a team point. Emily Duckett placed 10th in the 7AA girls pole vault, clearing 7 feet, 3 inches.
Pana had 3 Top 10 performances. The best finish of the area was Haden Stark in the 8AA boys long jump. He leaped 20 feet, 5 inches for 2nd place in the state. Griffin Kimbrel cleared 9 feet in the 7AA boys pole vault to claim 5th. John Miller of Pana high jumped 5 feet, 4 inches to tie for 10th place in the 7AA boys meet.
