The (#6-seed) Shelbyville Rams (6-15) took on the (#3 seed) St. Teresa Bulldogs (12-8) on Saturday in the CIC Tournament at Central A&M. Shelby was swamped by St. Teresa, by 30 points, 69-35.

The Bulldogs harassed the Rams from the opening tip and posted a 21-5 run. Reed scored all nine of his points for the Bulldogs in the first 8:00. He converted a 3-point play, then scored three more times.

Danner made a trey and a deuce, then was fouled and made two free throws. Stoner split a pair at the line and sank a two. Miller added a deuce for a 16-point lead.

The Rams got a solo bucket from Kade Kull and a solo bucket from Braden Nichols, after Nichols went 1-of-2 at the line.

Down by 16, the Rams were let off the mat and struck back with 15 points in the 2nd period. St. T scored 18, so the Rams still fell behind by 19 at the half.

Nevertheless, Kull lit a fuse with a triply of treys in the period. Max Beyers scored. Nichols and Wyatt Nothaus had two free throws each.

Danner stroked another trey and a deuce in the 2nd. Schmidt hit a trey and Smith a deuce. Stoner split a pair at the line again and scored two more times. Hayes drew two fouls and made 3-of-4 foul shots. St. T led, 39-20, at the break.

The Rams were cowed again in the 3rd with a, 16-9, Bulldog run. Kull converted a 3-point play and made his fourth triple., before making 1-of-2 at the line. Nothaus scored, but that was it. They missed two free throws.

St. T’s Stoner scored three more times in the 3rd to finish with 14 points in 3 quarters. Schmidt knocked down a pair of 3s and Miller scored twice to up the lead to 26 points heading into the 4th, 55-29.

In the final frame, the Rams only scored 6 points in 8:00 as eulogies were expressed. Evan Matlock had a bucket and Nichols had a bucket. Kull finished with two free throws for a game-high 20 points.

Six Dawgs scored late. Danner and Trotter had solo treys and Hayes, Miller, and Woodland made solo twos.

Although Kull led the scorers with 20 poits on a quartet of treys and a pair of 2s with 4-of-5 at the line, no other Ram was in double figures. Nichols scored 7 on two baskets and 3-of-6 at the line.

St. T was led by Danner with 15 and Stoner with 14. Reed and Schmidt had 9, each and Miller scored 8. Ten Bulldogs scored. Shelby had five players score.

St. T made 26 buckets with seven 3s for 59 points from the floor. Shelby made 11 buckets with four 3s for 26 points from the floor. Shelby was 9-of-13 at the line and St. T was 10-of-16.

St. Teresa will play Tuscola in the Tuesday semifinal. Tuscola (#2) beat (#7) Clinton, 39-37. Shelbyville (#6) will play Clinton in consolation on Monday.
