Shelbyville varsity volleyball dismantled the Windsor Invite Champion Tuscola Warriors on Tuesday night, 25-13, 25-16. The Ram JV survived, 25-17, 32-30, and the Ram fresh-soph cruised, 25-17, 25-13.

"This was a pretty complete match for us," said Ram coach Lisa Peifer. "We were aggressive from the service line to the net and never let Tuscola get much going on offense."

Courtney Williams served 14 points with a team-high three aces. Maddie Holland served 14 points and had one ace. Kelcie Darnell served 11 points with one ace.

"Our first three servers were great and we took off with big leads in both games," Coach Peifer said. "The end of the second game, we let up and relaxed a bit, which accounted for more points than they should have had. I was happy with the solid play tonight."

Williams had a double-double adding 16 assists to her 14 points. Shelby had 27 kills off of 22 assists. Seven different hitters scored.

Madison Boone led the attack with seven kills and the court defense with eight digs. Rachel Fox, again, co-led the defense with Boone, scooping eight digs.Shelby had 29 digs in all.

Holland had six kills and one block (7 net points). Claudia Watson swung for five kills and rose for one block (6 net points).

Game 1 of the JV match was a solid win, 25-17, but game 2 was a marathon, 32-30.

"The girls finally kicked it in again at the end of the game," said Ram JV coach Jamie Watson. "Communication and enthusiasm was the key to the outcome of this match. Tuscola didn't back down. We fought hard for every point."

Sydney Miller had a double-double with 10 points and 12 kills. Five other Rams had double-digit nights. Torre Koontz dished out 20 assists. Blair Johnston scooped 15 digs and Hannah Koonce 10 digs. Kary Langan served 15 points and Elly Oldham 13 points.

The fresh-soph girls grabbed momentum in game 1 and it served them well in game two for a solid win, 25-17, 25-13. Their serving was huge, delivering 11 aces.
