After dropping two close games to Teutopolis last weekend on the road, the Shelbyville Rams scorched Vandalia, 16-6 and Charleston, 8-3, at home this week.

Coach Matt Cloe pulled a team together with just two graduated seniors, Nathan Eversole and Maison Kile of Pana, one other Ram varsity player Isaac Smith and a host of JV players who will be moving up to varsity next year. They also have David Maziarz of Pana and Nick Wheeler of Cowden playing with them.

On Monday, the Rams exploded in the third inning with eight runs to put Vandy behind the eight ball. Leading 8-3 in the fifth the Rams went on another run, scoring six runs and bury the would-be Vandals. The Rams clocked four doubles in the game and eight other hits interspersed with 13 walks to only four strikeouts.

Isaac Smith, Maison Kile, David Maziarz, Caine Cloe and Matt Karol led the Rams in hitting. Smith, Kile and Maziarz were 2-for-4, Smith with 3 RBI’s, Kile with 3 RBI’s and Maziarz with 2 RBI’s. Cloe and Karol were both 2-for-3. Cloe had 3 RBI’s and Karol 2 RBI’s.
