The Shelbyville volleyball team defeated Robinson 2-0 on Tuesday at the Robinson 2A Regional. The scores were 25-9 and 25-13.

“We didn’t really know what to expect from Robinson, we just tried to go by past information to prepare for the match tonight.,” said Coach Jamie Watson. “I told my girls, your new season starts here and anything can happen. We have to prepare and be ready for any situation and we were ready last night.

“Actually, Robinson scored first in both sets, but we soon took control in both of those situations and held the lead for the win.

“Our teamwork was awesome and obviously the key to the win. Now as we prepare for Newton, we will focus on speeding up the tempo of our game, staying positive and competitive for the entire match and continue to work together.”

Shelbyville was scheduled to play Newton on Thursday in the final.

Other games

Windsor-Stew-Stras defeated Heritage 25-12 and 25-23.

“The girls played really well,” said Coach Ronda Schlechte. “I felt like they were focuses and worked really well together.”

Okaw Valley defeated Villa Grove 25-19 and 25-19.

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City lost to St. Elmo-Brownstown in the South Central 1A Regional on Monday, 2 games to 1. The scores were CHBC 25/SEB 15; CHBC 10/SEB 25; CHBC 25 SEB 27.
