The Sullivan girls basketball team is ranked 3rd in the state. The last time they played Shelbyville they won by 56 points, 71-15. This time Sullivan scored 17 fewer points and the Rams scored 8 more points. The 'Skins still won by 29, 54-23.
The evisceration took place right off the bat with a 17-0 Redskin run. Sullivan stayed sharp in the 2nd period, offensively, but the Rams managed to get on the board, despite the 19-9 run. Sully led by 25 at the half, 36-9.
Secure with their 25-point lead, Sullivan eased up on the gas in the 3rd and nipped the Rams, 14-10. Shelby was almost playing the toned-down 'Skins even. They still trailed by 31 points, 50-19. In the superfluous 4th, both teams scored just a total of 8 points in 8:00.
The 'Skins had 3 players score in balanced fashion in double figures. Esther Miller led with 12 points on 5 buckets and 2-of-3 at the line. Emily White had 11 points, with a trey hat trick. Zoe Walton scored 10 points, all from the floor. Avery Still scored just 7 points.
Freshman guard Trinity Wade led Shelbyville with 9 points, including a triple. She scored 4 times. No other Ram scored more than one basket. Carson Beyers had a two and 2-of-4 at the line.
Sullivan (21-1) is the #1 seed and advanced in the CIC Tourney.
