Shelbyville alum Jordan Smith (SHS '16) was noted last year for catching fire as well as passes at Millikin. This year he is noted for breaking records.

Smith set a new Millikin University football record as a sophomore with 13 touchdowns and 818 yards in 2017. This past fall (2018), as a junior, he broke that wide open.

Smith, a wide-receiver, set a new conference mark and school record for single season touchdown receptions with 17. He ended 2018 with 60 catches for a school record 1,044 yards, becoming the first Big Blue receiver to reach the 1,000-yard mark in a season.

Smith's 102 points also ties the conference mark for points in a season. With one season remaining in his career, Smith holds the Big Blue record for touchdown catches at 37 and ranks third all-time in receiving yards at 2,300.

Smith was named to the All-Conference First Team for the second straight year. He was the only 1st Team pick last year from Millikin.

Smith (6'4", 195 lbs), as a sophomore, led the CCIW in receiving yards per game averaging 81.8 yards per game. He was second in receiving in CCIW games, averaging 84.1 yards per game. He caught 43 passes in 10 games for 818 total yards with a 19 yard average per catch and 13 TDs.

Smith led the CCIW conference in yards per catch (18.8). He caught more than double the passes from his freshman year, for 380 more yards and 6 more TDs. Millikin was picked to finish 7th in the conference that year. Instead, they finished 4th.

As a Millikin freshman, Smith caught 20 passes in 10 games for 438 yards. He had at least one catch in every game, except the game against Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology. He had 8 total catches in two consecutive games (4 catches against Wheaton and 4 against Augustana) in the middle of the season. He had 3 catches in the final game against Illinois Wesleyan.

As a Millikin track freshman, Smith finished in third in the long jump at the indoor CCIW Championship at 6.68 meters (21-11.00) earning All-Conference honors. His distance tied for 8th all-time at Millikin.

Smith was a standout athlete at Shelbyville High School in football, basketball and track. He signed in 2016 to compete in track and in football at NCAA Division-III Millikin University. He was a 5-time state qualifier in track with a PR of 6-4 in the high jump, 22-3 in the long jump, and 43-7 in the triple jump.

Smith was out injured for a few games during his high school senior football season (2015). Nevertheless, he was still the Rams' #1 receiver. Smith caught 32 passes for 459 yards for 14.3 yards per catch. He had the most receiving touchdowns (7) with 10 total touchdowns.

In high school track as a senior, Smith was a state medalist (2016) in the IHSA long jump (21-5.25), placing 6th in the state, and a qualifier the triple jump going 41-6.25 in state prelims. He was the A&M Sectional Champion in the triple jump (41-8.25) and was sectional runner-up in the long jump (21-2).

Smith earned a medal at the IHSA State Track Meet as a junior (2015), placing 8th in the long jump (21-3.25). He was also a state qualifier in the triple jump (41-2) out of the Pana Sectional.
