The Stew-Stras eighth graders bowed out in the first round of the State Class 8A Tournament, losing to Chrisman Scotland 46-39.

Will Rincker led the Stars in scoring and had the game high of 19 points, including three treys. Steven Thomas came in with eight points and two treys and Jaden Widdersheim clocked in with seven points and one longster. Jon Hoene hit for four and Travis Fry had three.

The Stars fell behind in the first period, 10-3 but rallied in the second to out score Chrisman by one, 7-6. But the Stars still trailed 16-10 at the half. In the third period, Stew-Stras mounted a rally of 14 points to Chrisman’s 10, to trail by only two, 26-24 going into the fourth.

The Stars put in their biggest scoring effort in the fourth with 15 points, but Chrisman clocked in with 20 to take the game 46-39

The eighth grade Stars end their season with a record of 16-7.
