The Shelbyville Ram golfers were riding high in their home matches lately, but had to face superior talent on Tuesday and got nudged off their perch, but just by a few strokes.

The Rams shot just 171, but lost to Taylorville (163) and Vandalia (166). They were able to get the best of Nokomis (199). Taylorville had two players shoot 2 over 38’s and Nokomis’ #1, Ben Martin, blew by everyone with an even par 36.

Ty Lane had the low Shelby score of 41, leading the Ram, sub-45, scoring foursome of Ryan Kneller (43), Zach Lane (43) and Bryan Gaddis (44). That quartet kept the Rams in contention, despite their losing to some great scores.

Dallas Gray of Vandalia, had their low score of 39, helping the Vandals edge Shelby.

Several of the players from Tuesday’s match were Central Illinois Junior Golf Tour players this summer: Vandalia’s Dallas Gray, Ryan Ochs, and Dan Reuscher and Taylorville’s Seth Brannon to name a few.

Not affecting the Ram team score, the other Ram players, Kolton Smith (52) and Jordan Gaston (64), fell off a bit from the last match.

The Rams play the other Angus Links home team, Windsor, on Friday afternoon.
