The Windsor/Stew-Stras Trojan softball team is in the catbird seat in a rain-interrupted contest against South Central from Monday, up 3-0.
Addie Wernsing took the circle for WSS and got three South Central batters to ground out in the 1st inning. One was thrown out by Ellie Wittenberg, 2nd to 1st, one by Kinley Quast at 3rd, and the other on a 3--unassisted to Samantha Hayes at 1st. The other batter managed a single to left.
WSS wasted little time getting a lead. In the bottom of the 1st, Stacie Vonderheide hit a 1-out single. Wernsing reached on an fielder's choice. Gabby Vonderheide sacrificed a run home. On a 3-2 pitch, Kinley Quast plastered an inside the park home run, to make it 3-0.
South Central reached on a lead-off error in the 2nd. Then a ground out to Wittenberg at 2nd a strikeout by Wernsing and a pop out to Quast at 3rd, kept South Central at bay.
In the WSS 2nd, Marisa Daniels was hit by a pitch, but was left on. In the top of the 3rd, shortstop Stacie Vonderheide made a play on a grounder, then the game was delayed.
