The reigning state champs (32-0-1) unleashed their weaponry on Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City on Thursday by 20 runs in less than 4 innings, 20-0.
CHBC got off to a good start with a lead-off single from Kylee Bertin and then she stole 2nd. There the good start died. Calla Roney threw a K, then a ground out moved Bertin to 3rd. That was as close as she got. Roney rang up the next batter.
It was a feeding frenzy for the Hatchets from their first at bat, exploding for 8 runs. Carson Cole led off with a double

Calla Roney bot only threw the winner, she hit 4-for-4 with 4 RBIs. She hit a home run and 2 doubles. Hannah Hayes hit 2-for-3, with a grand slam home run, driving in 5 runs. Mackenzi Tabbert hit 2-for-4 with 3 runs, hitting 2 triples. Carson Cole hit 2-for-2 with a double.
Karlie Bean hit 1-for-2 with a triple, Maddy Pfeiffer hit 1-for-2 with a double, and Megan Schlechte hit 2-for-3 with 2 runs.
Cole led off the WSS 1st with a double. She stole 3rd and Hannah Hayes singled her home and stole 2nd. Megan Schlechte singled her home and got to 2nd on one of 10 CHBC errors.
Tabbert hammered an RBI-triple. Roney singled Tabbert home for the 4-0 lead, still with no outs. Natalie Hayes ran for Roney. After a pop out, Ava Bennett reached on an error and Hayes scored as Bennett went to 2nd. Pfeiffer grounded out.
Mackinzee Reynolds reached on an error and Bennett scored. Reynolds stole 2nd and scored on Cole's second hit of the inning. Cole stole 2nd and made 3rd on an error. Hannah Hayes reached on an error and Cole scored, 8-0.
Megan Schlechte reached on an error, but a fielder's choice ended the 1st. WSS sent 13 batters to the plate, 10 reached base, 8 scored with 2 left on base.
CHBC went in order in the 2nd on a ground out to Reynolds at 1st and dropped 3rd strike that was thrown to 1st and a strikeout. WSS came back to the all-you-can-score batter's box.
Roney led off with a double and Natalie Hayes ran for her. Bean launched a triple. Bean scored on a passed ball. After a line-out, Pfeiffer doubled and Reynolds reached on a fielder's choice, everyone safe. Cole walked to load the bases.
Hannah Hayes, 90 pounds dripping wet and very fast, blasted 1-1 pitch for a Grand Slam Home Run to boost the lead to 14-0. However, the revolving door at home was not done spinning. Megan Schlechte singled. Tabbert hit another RBI-triple. Roney smacked an RBI-double. Natalie Hayes ran for Roney again.
Anna Schlechte hit a single, scoring Hayes. Katrina Davis reached on an error, but was stranded, 17-0. That inning, WSS sent 14 batters to the plate had, 11 reached base and two were left on. They hit 3 doubles, 2 triples and a grand slam.
CHBC went in order in the 3rd on two Roney strikeouts and a ground out to Cole at short. WSS had another ups in the 3rd.
With one out, Sydney Tabor singled. With two outs, Tabbert reached on an error, scoring Tabor. Roney then rocketed a 2-1 pitch for a solo home run, 20-0.
CHBC faced extinction in the 4th. Kylie Doty reached 1st on a dropped 3rd strike. With one out, Lauren Wojcik singled. A fielder's choice forced the lead runner at 3rd. With two outs, CHBC would need a 6-run rally to continue the game another inning.
The batter hit a ground ball to Natalie Hayes at short, who flipped it to Anna Schlechte at 2nd for the force out and the mercy rule ending.
